Abovenet NJ-1

The AboveNet Communications NJ-1 Internet Service Exchange is AboveNet's major facility in the New York metropolitan area. This facility houses co-location operations supported by a highly fault tolerant electrical and mechanical systems infrastructure. The facility represents an adaptive re-use of a former pasta factory, located in an established mixed use urban area.

Supported by a hybrid electrical plant utilizing multiple unit, battery-less rotary UPS systems and conventional engine generators, this facility establishes a new benchmark in cost effective, reliable critical electrical infrastructure design. Cooling is provided by a central water-cooled chilled water plant. All critical support systems are configured for maintainability without interruption of computer operations.
